Community Support
Advocacy for all forms of bicycling is a core value of the Southside Cycling Club. The Club has been an active member or donor to National, State and Regional bicycle advocacies since it's foundation nearly 25 years ago. These include:
- League of American Bicyclists (LAB)
- Georgia Bikes!
- The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) and MTB Atlanta (SORBA Chapter)
The Club and our members have also invested both significant volunteer leadership, service hours and financial support to construction of these local bicycle facilities:
- The Ridge Nature Area trail system in Fayetteville, GA (Lead&Support)
- PAC Trails in Peachtree City, GA (Lead&Support, also formerly as "Stinky Trail")
- PTC BMX Pump Track in Peachtree City, GA (Support)
- Brown's Mill Battlefield trails in Newnan, GA (Support)
The Club over the years has also partnered with or sponsored numerous local racing teams, including Beck Janitorial Cycling, Race Across America (RAAM) Team Pedal for Pets, Portable Rock Climbing (PRC), Smoother Cycling Team, and the Southwest Atlanta Youth MTB Club (SWAY).
The Club has also assisted with and endorsed the recognition of Peachtree City as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community since 2014, and as Bicycle Friendly Business: Atlanta Trek-Peachtree City (Silver-2015, Gold-2019, Gold-2024), (Bicycles Unlimited (Silver-2018), and Senoia Bicycle (Gold-2018, Gold-2022).
The Club directly sponsors and organizes the local Ride of Silence and other National Bike Month activities.
The Club engages local governments to advance bicycle safety and local infrastructure investments through the cooperative actions of Bike-Walk Fayette and Bike Coweta.
